Lawndale’s 20th Century Modern Market is the only show of its kind in Texas, exclusively featuring design of the twentieth century. This year’s Market will feature specialist dealers from around the country, offering a variety of media including furniture, glass, ceramics, metalwork, textiles, objets d’art and fashion. Each year in conjunction with the Market, Lawndale offers a free public lecture pertaining to this important era
in design.

Free Public Lecture | Wednesday, April 22
7:00 PM

This presentation examines how and when modernist artmaking techniques from Europe and New York arrived in Texas and how they were incorporated into indigenous Texas art during the late 1920's until the early 1960's. Artists throughout the state will be discussed, with an emphasis on Houston artists.
