Emily Peacock You, Me & Diane
You, Me & Diane is a series of photographs by Emily Peacock based on work from the seminal book Diane Arbus: An Aperture Monograph. Peacock has “recreated” Arbus’ influential images using herself and her own family as the subject matter. Like Arbus, Peacock is attracted to strangeness and the poignancy of our shared human condition. But, whereas Arbus sought out the strange in many different scenarios, Peacock always creates her photographs from within the familiar, people and places she knows intimately. Most importantly, You, Me & Diane embodies Peacock’s innate sense of humor as she takes on the absurd task of recreating an already remarkable image.
