Artist Statement
“I am interested in the simplicity of line and its ability to express movement and tension as it defines form. The curvilinear line found in my paintings can be seen as folds winding and flopping in space, reacting towards their unsettling predicaments. The incessant pilings formed by these folds have grown to hive-like proportions.I identify with certain tensions found in my work. Many of the undulating knotted forms can be defined by certain personal anxieties. Other quirks make their way through the tedium of my sculptural process. Much like the obsessive shaping involved in the production of my sculptures, the bold sureness of my painted line is an assertion and a belief in the forms I produce.”
