Twilight Robert Montgomery, Joseph Rhone

March 5, 1999 – April 9, 1999

This two-person show embraced light as a central component, a formal device that carries symbolic meaning. Robert Montgomery, transplanted from Scotland and a recent Glassell Core Fellow, showed work influenced by his experiences in Houston for the past two years including “shopping mall architecture” and unique quality of urban light. Having received his M.F.A from Rhode Island School of Design and his B.A. from Austin College, Joseph Rhone now lived and worked in New York. His skills lay in his conjuring navigational aids of light for the viewers to heed as they traversed his installation.
