Gulf Coast Reading Series featuring Felicia Zamora, Ryan Bollenbach, Kelan Nee, Leisa Loan, and Anthony Sutton.

Felicia Zamora is the author of eight poetry books including Murmuration Archives (Akrilica Series, Noemi Press 2026), Interstitial Archaeology(Wisconsin Poetry Series 2025) and I Always Carry My Bones (Iowa Poetry Prize/Ohioana Book Award – Poetry). She won the Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize, Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award, Loraine Williams Poetry Prize, C.P. Cavafy Prize, two Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Awards, and received residencies/fellowships from CantoMundo, Tin House, and Yaddo. Her poems appear in The American Poetry Review, Best American Poetry, Boston Review, Ecotone, Gulf Coast, The Nation, and Orion. She’s an associate professor of poetry at the University of Cincinnati and a poetry editor for Colorado Review.

Ryan Bollenbach is a writer and musician living in Houston, Texas. He holds a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Houston where he was formerly the managing editor at Gulf Coast. His chapbook letters from a strange land is forthcoming from Carrion Bloom Books. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in DIAGRAM, Bennington Review, Quarterly West, Snail Trail Press, and elsewhere.

Series

Gulf Coast: A Journal of Literature and Fine Arts presents the poetry and prose of UH graduate students, paired with prominent featured visiting writers, at Lawndale Art Center. Participating students come from the MFA and PhD programs in Creative Writing. The monthly Gulf Coast Reading Series supports the journal’s mission to spotlight the work of both esteemed and emerging writers with voices as diverse as the Gulf itself.
