About the Exhibitions

Candice D’Meza
Intergalactic Liberation Bureau: Archive 001
John M. O’Quinn Gallery

The Intergalactic Liberation Bureau is an experimental, participatory performance and installation that reimagines bureaucracy as a site of cosmic possibility. Set in a Quantum Control Room helmed by Zeta, a Cosmic File Keeper, the Bureau assembles fragmented bureaucratic forms and mundane office trivialities into an encounter with freedom. Drawing from African Indigenous cosmologies, maroon histories, and quantum mechanics, it asks: What does it mean to be free? Who stamps the papers, and who ignores them? What futures emerge when we release ourselves from the demand for terrestrial resolution?

Untangling the Snare
Cecily E. Horton Gallery

In this body of work, Sarah Fox has woven sculpture, puppetry, performance and video into a two-act fable of her own making, Untangling the Snare. Archetypal hybrid creatures take form as marionettes and masks, culminating in a video work and live performance. Through these multi-media vessels, a folk tale of female solidarity and escape is born.
