La artista XZZX realizará una performance cerca de su escultura Soberanía, una serie de acciones que exploran temas implícitos en el proyecto, en particular, una reflexión sobre el concepto de soberanía.

En la segunda de tres actividades, XZZX leerá textos originales con música seleccionada para complementar esta intervención artística que dialoga con la diversidad cultural de la ciudad y la cultura del automóvil, enfatizando la necesidad de repensar el desarrollo urbano y la preservación ecológica. Como arte público y catalizador de la conciencia colectiva, la artista invita a los habitantes de Houston a reconsiderar su relación entre la ciudad y la naturaleza.

Artist XZZX will perform near her sculpture Soberanía (Sovereignty) “a series of actions that explore themes implicit in the project, in particular, a reflection on the concept of sovereignty/soberanía.” 

In the second of three activations, XZZX will read original texts with selected music to further this artistic intervention which engages with the city’s cultural diversity and car culture, emphasizing the need to rethink urban development and ecological preservation. Serving as public art and a catalyst for collective consciousness, the artist invites Houstonians to reconsider their urban-nature relationship.

Texts will be read in Spanish, and printed notes in English will be provided.

Soberanía surge como una intervención crítica en el paisaje urbano de Houston, estableciendo un diálogo entre la memoria geológica y la expansión contemporánea. Entre las llanuras y pantanos de la ciudad, esta obra introduce un elemento montañoso que simboliza la tensión entre el desarrollo urbano y el paisaje silvestre. En una metrópolis fragmentada por autopistas y estacionamientos, Soberanía redefine estos espacios como puntos de encuentro que reflejan la identidad local. La intervención interactúa con la diversidad cultural de la ciudad y la cultura del auto, enfatizando la necesidad de repensar el desarrollo urbano y la preservación ecológica. Soberanía (Sovereignty) emerges as a critical intervention in Houston’s urban landscape, establishing dialogue between geological memory and contemporary expansion. Mariela Gerónima Domínguez Moreno aka XZZX, nacida en 1979, es una artista multidisciplinaria, curadora y gestora cultural originaria de América del Sur, actualmente reside en Houston desde 2016. Ha realizado proyectos independientes en Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Montevideo y Houston, enfocándose en diversas áreas como comunicación visual, instalación, arte urbano y más, mostrando su diversa gama artística y experiencia.

Mariela Gerónima Domínguez Moreno aka XZZX, born in 1979, is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and cultural manager originally from South America, currently residing in Houston since 2016. She has executed independent projects in Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Montevideo, and Houston, focusing on various areas such as visual communication, installation, urban art, and more, showcasing her diverse artistic range and expertise.
