Anthony Sonnenberg With Wild Abandon
In this exhibition, With Wild Abandon, Anthony Sonnenberg tackles the topic of consumption and consumerism. Ranging in media from porcelain to performance the works in the show draw from an equally diverse range of sources such as the still life, the rococo and Greek myth. Unable to decide whether they are warnings or advertisements, these works function as markers along the artist’s path to an understanding of indulgence and its effects on humanity’s past, present, and future as well as his own body. Throughout the journey there is always the question; when we allow ourselves to enjoy pleasure do we also sow the seeds of our own destruction? And if so, is it better than no pleasure at all?
