The Flood Becomes An evening with Jax Neal

Lawndale Art & Performance Center will present The Flood Becomes: an evening with Jax Neal on Saturday, August 16 at 4 PM in John M. O’Quinn Gallery. During the program, writer and performance artist Neal will read excerpts from his essays and poetry which touch on environmental disaster, queer hopelessness, and humanity in the face of disaster. These works explore Neal’s childhood growing up on the Gulf Coast and the region’s precarious relationship to water. Neal reflects: “artists are known to make, to do, and—for me—to move. But, in this work, I want to do the opposite: to sit down, to undo, to remove, and to look at what is left.“
