Studio Artist
Julia Barbosa Landois is a multidisciplinary artist born in San Antonio and now based in Houston, TX, who reworks found narratives and materials to examine gender, spirituality, ecology, and language. Her work has been featured in exhibitions and performance festivals in the United States, Latin America, and Europe, and she performed most recently at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. Barbosa Landois has received grants from Artpace and the Artist Foundation of San Antonio and was an artist-in-residence at the Santa Fe Art Institute (USA), Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder (Norway), and Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Germany). Her projects cross a variety of media to highlight the relationship between the intimate and the public and the unintended experiences of the written, sung, and spoken word.
